Default New Sportster, Can You "Dig" It

I swore years ago that I would never own another Sportster. I had a 77 XLCH that it seemed like I spent more time kicking and pushing than I ever did riding; but I recently found this 63, and I had to have it.
It hasn't been registered in nine years; but it's in nice shape. The clutch and brake need some work; but it starts and runs pretty well. I'm really excited about my new toy, and thought I'd share some pictures.

Definitely looks like a repainted ness bike. I'd probably ditch that mirror and get a skinnier front tire

I really like that style, but gotta agree, lose the mirror.
Is that a 15" Centerline with a Michelin car tire?

Dig that springer for sure. By the looks of it that's a Ness Rocket Tank.

I love it. so close to being a real cool classic Digger.
Call the cosmetician. Paint and skinny front tire and a cool super slim mirror.

Pipes, paint, polish, and a new front tire are definitely on the list once I get some things sorted and get it back on the road. I bought it from the widow of a guy, who bought it years ago from his brother, who lived in San Leandro Ca. The story was that the brother went to school with Corey Ness, and bought the bike from him. Who knows if that's true. It is a car tire on the back which is rubbing on the chain, so it might have to go. I paid four grand for it.

That's one of the 3 or 4 elements on the bike that make it such a spectacular example of a "digger"...
