Default Daytona 2011, Bikes Stolen, Knoxville, TN

On the way to Daytona Bike Week 2011, We (Me & my riding friend, Mark) had our 2001 Chevy Blazer (S-10 based), trailer and bikes stolen. I know they are late model bikes, but they could have been anything, since it was an enclosed trailer. Just thought I would let people know about it, to protect their stuff in the future, and maybe help us find our bikes/ trailer/ stuff. We stopped for the night at the Ramada Inn, 7737 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN. We left Truck/ Trailer on the well lit north side of the hotel, right next to the rooms. Had padlocks on the trailer doors/ hitch/ receiver. The Blazer was locked and had the factory theft system, which was not enough. In hindsight, we should have disabled the Blazer better. Everything was there at Midnight, Saturday, 3/5/2011. When we went to leave at 7:00 AM, in the morning, everything was gone. No hotel security cameras. After calling the cops, making a police report, we called it quits, and rented a car to drive home. That night after getting home, we received a call that the Blazer was found at a rest stop on Interstate 81,(By Fall Branch?), east of Knoxville, without the trailer and bikes. The blazer had the ignition switch pulled out, and still had some of our stuff. So it looks like they were after the bikes and trailer. Here are some pictures and info. on the bikes. My bike is a 1991 HD Heritage Softail, Black with Blue scallops. Mark's bike is a 2007 HD Road King Std., painted factory Black Cherry (looks black with slight red tint). The picture of his bike is a factory shot, so not quite the same. He had a double backrest seat, different pipes, blackwall tires and some other accessories. The trailer was a Haulmark V-nose enclosed, single axle trailer with an unpolished alum. finish. The picture shows a black trailer, but it is the same model.

So take the right steps, in the future, if you are traveling with your bikes to keep everything secure. If anyone can help out to find the bikes & trailer, leave me a note or e-mail, alro1981@gmail.com

Thanks,
Axle34

I don't understand why you didn't park by cameras? Thats the whole purpose of using hotels, if no cameras, go to next one.

WTF is it with Tennesse & stolen bikes . A client of mine doing a pre-Daytona tour last year on a rented HD woke up to find a group of guys trying to load it into a van . He had one of those personal alarm mini bullhorn thingies and woke the entire hotel by using it . The thieves dropped the bike and bolted . That was a Motel 8 near Chattanooga . It ended his bike portion of his trip as the bike was banged up when they took off and he did Daytona in a car rental instead . I really hope you get them back .

That sucks. Good luck, but I wouldn't be surprised if the hotel wasn't involved. In 06 a couple of my friends had a trailer cut off at the ball, never saw anything again. figured the night clerk called up old Jim Bob and it was gone. Cops weren't much help, didn't like Yankees. By now a whole family is living in that trailer trying to figure out how to put that sickle engine in a broken down JD tractor. Another good reason to drive straight through on a trip to Daytona.
