So not to long ago i picked up a harmon front end 24 over and decided its time to build a long bike. So i was either gonna build a shovel or a pan so a basket shovel project came up and wa la... The start of a delkron case build from the bottom up.. so luckily my good friend john found a harmon frame for to match my front end. The neck was no where close to be raked right and i am lucky enough to know Bill harmon who built these bike for the past decades with john harmon when he was alive and Bill still builds these front ends.. so bill is rakeing out this neck to fit my front end and i am lucky enough to work righ along side of him learing all his knowlage...I also am lucky to have a good friend john to help me build this shovel motor to go along with this bike...super stoked!! now for some pics!
The last pic is the look i am going for..i already have that tank and i got a cheetah seat to go with it also.. i will get some better mock up pics when i get the neck on! |

It's hard to say anything........ but......... you are building the dream.
Do you sell those other frames in the background? They look like the frames Jesse used for his Harmon build. |

So....Harmon's forks were basically designed to absorbed energy based on their length/flex?
Very cool, nostalgic look. |

Wayne engineering Girder. Well the other one is a 1 of 3 first harman frontend. The footage in the history of the chopper of John Harman riding his pink? purple bike, it's the frontend off that very bike.

Much sleeker with the forward tilted downtubes..!
Personally I would go with a shorter (or no) backrest seat.. to compliment the typical overall low profile of a Harman front end & handlebar combo.. but again, that's just my 0.2 cents..

Maybe you'll find a seat in this thread below..
http://www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/s...rman&showall=1 With a rabbit-ear style handlebar the prismic tank would be not really at home anymore imho.. (just my 0.2 cents..) |

I don't think that is really the kind of bike that you want. Definatley looks too long and like it wont handle well, plus that old of an engine.....yeah, you should definatley sell it to me instead.----seriously though....I love long bikes and i have been drooling over this thread since you started it---seriously cool bike and very nice work---can't wait to see it finished

cant wait to see more pics man this one is coming along nicely. i got a sporty in a paugcho fram thats got a 45 degree rake and im thinking of a long springer instead of my wide glide front end. the only problem is they have no turning radius blah lol oh well i dont mind doing a 72 point roll around to back into a space.

Amount of forward stretch and longer rear section makes it sit just right !
Usually I'm not a fan of longer rear sections, but this one works ! Bitchin' !

man that takes me back to the days. I used to see these swithblades in my families shop, in the 70s. Even pedal bikes had the long front ends. The bike is at the event 10 minutes before you arrive!!! Goog luck, thanx for the memories

it has probably already been asked but where did you get this rim and do they make them for the rear to be able to run a disk brake on? i am in the process of getting some parts together to do mine (1974 ironhead) and would love to have invaders for my build since it is raked and i will be putting a longer front end on it.

Ah man, I was in love with this thing and looking forward to updates, but I have to admit I don't like the prism tank. That's just my shitty opinion though.

Nice right there.. I never leave a project on the lift table during the complete build..
Always get it off there from time to time.. seeing a bike at eye level is never the same as when it's on the ground..

If it's like all the other Harmon forks on bikes that I had the pleasure of riding...
It's awesome.... One finger on the bars will turn the forks ....Did I say AWESOME..?? The ones that was over 18" seemed to be a little harsh on suspension.. But ..I'm sure it would be nothing at all to get use to.... Love the looks of this Long bike.... RIGHT-ON ......

I know, Until I got the Harmon on and rode it I had no idea how sweet the ride was. I had never ridden a bike with one before. Plus before I bought this one I had never seen one as far as I could remember. My Knuck had a standard girder front end on it when I bought it that I hated. |
