Gotcha Dean, my Dad & Uncle used to sponser circle track cars and gave them garage space, tools and some money to have the name of their business on the cars. I don't want anything like that, I want to have fun with a buddy I enjoy spending time with and maybe his kid and mine will help once in a while. Not that I don't wanna' go fast but quality time with friends and family has got to be part of it. I found out a while ago that--for me--the experience has to mean as much as the destination or it's just like goin' to work.
Whack.

In 1984 a neighbor moved. He asked me if I wanted his "old welder". It was a Montgomery Ward 220v arc welder. When I worked for NAPA they would occasionally have sales for employees. At one sale I bought a 50 lb. box of 6013 rods for a quarter. A 50 lb. box will last my lifetime at the rate I weld. I'm not a welder but I welded the sidecar frame as I couldn't afford to have it welded. The first run at El Mirage had me as nervous as a chicken that Col. Sanders just smiled at. But a dozen runs at Bonneville and about 30 at El Mirage later no welds have broken.
But its like Dean said its about friends and friendship and having fun. We had a great time last year at Bonneville. So much so we were planning this year before we left.

Don't forget we are doing a BBQ Friday night the 10th at the bend. Look for the HAMB Banner(because I don't have a JJ banner!). We are going to be raffling off items and taking doantions to pass along to Save the Salt. Dogs will be provided, bring your own drink and a chair if needed. Trent

We're heading out Wed. Last report I saw was July 29. 99f, 11% humidity and the salt looked good. I heard that the salt pumping had gone good this year and the salt is noticeably better than last year.
Is Wes going Frosty? Hopefully the foot is healed up enough. Did you take this photo last year or the year before. What ever year it was thanks again. ![]() By weslake at 2012-01-04

Bill, think it was a couple of years ago and your welcome. Remember commenting that the only bad thing about taking pictures is your never in them. I think that pic about sums up Bonneville, the smiles and laid back attitude, doesn't get much better than that. Glad the Salt is looking good. Leaving Indiana Thursday evening with a Friday evening ETA. 1500 miles, 24 hours, easy trip compared to HRC. Hoping to make the Bend in the Road BBQ. Can't wait to see everyone again.

I'm the lucky bastard from Denmark who has been invited to crew for Bill (Hoofhearted)
can't really express how honoured I feel to be given this opportunity to play (a small) part in something I've allways dreamt of.Thanks Bill ![]() We (the "not so old" old lady and I) will arrive in Las Vegas and drive up from there. ETA sometime not too late Saturday. Hate that we'll most likely miss the barbecue. Would love to meet some of the nice people from in here Any chance of another come-together in one of the following days? . Will at least look out for tha HAMB banner, and hope to say hello to Tman![]() See you on the salt (how good it feels writing that )

I'd love to be able to afford to stay on for BUB. But finances being what they are SpeedWeek is the one for me.
