well,i finally figured out how to post pics on here,i think may have loaded a few too many on one reply so they're kinda small,so i might try n change that, the rear tail cone i made out of a '28 model t headlight bucket,so its nice and shapely, the rear wheel is of a chopper imjust using it for mock up,i made the oil tank out of stainless tubing, and its mounted with beehive springs (it'll never break from vibration).the tunnel of the gastank im making is hollowed out to house the electrics on the frame backbone.

Just because I'm that guy, I'm going to ask...what the fuck does a bunch of mandrel bends made into an oil holding device have to do with a cafe bike? And exactly how much oil will your bends hold?

Perhaps they will double as an oil cooler.... increased surface area etc. etc. Good to see someone trying something different anyway.

My thoughts as well. I thought the tank was a coiled exhaust of somesort at first until I saw the pic with an oil cap affixed.

I think the oil tank is cool.I like the fact that it's different. You not worried about to much movement from those springs.I never used them, so I don't know how stiff they are.

I like the crazy oil tank, but am wondering why you didn't just mount it to the frame instead of suspending it in the springs. What am I missing?

Edit: As a retired Steamfitter, I dig anything that's nicely done with pipe or tubing. From the pics, it looks like it's nicely done.

i'm stuck on the how much oil DOES it hold thought..... and when i am past that i will be stuck on the what's with all the springs to mount it thought.... and then onto the will running the front wheel in the reverse direction be a bad thing to do with the way the internal drum shoe actuation works (i do see the front wheel isn't mounted, but is that the way you intend it to be?)? just thoughts, i see creative ideas but i am trying to see the balance between creativity and functionality....

the reason i ran it suspended with springs is that it basically eliminates any chance of it ever cracking, ive built alot of rigid bikes in my day,and there's definatley good reason to mount things so they can move around,i realize this is not a rigid bike, but the other part of me likes gizmo's n gadgets,so i like how it looks mounted with springs.i have no idea how much oil,but it will be over 2 qts,for sure, prob closer to 3.i dont want to run an oil cooler on this bike so thats why i created all the surface area on the oiltank.the front wheel is gonna be set up in the stock position,i just balance it there to take a pic to get an idea how the bikes gonna look.

Those springs might eliminate the chance of the oil "tank" cracking, but I would be a lot more worried about the springs breaking than the oil tank. A properly hard mounted oil tank shouldn't crack anyway. I appreciate your ingenuity, but it just seems a bit too unstable for my liking.
