Enfield w/diesel engine conversion that the German owner runs on vegetable oil. Not mine, but on my list of things to build.

J.A.Prestwich was responsible for the design and manufacture of engines used in a great many famous marques and had numerous racing successes. JAP engines were still used in speedway bikes well into the 1960's. Complete motorcycles were built from 1904 to 1908, and subsequently the factory concentrated on supplying its proprietory engines to other manufacturers. After 1945, production was taken over by the Villiers factory.

The extensive list of manufacturers which used
JAP engines includes Acme, AJW, Alldays & Onions, Argentre, Atala, Austral, Automoto, Bown, Bücker, Brown, Calthorpe, Corah, Cotton, Coventry-Eagle, Dollar, Dunelt, Eysink, Favor, Fusi, Ganna, Grindlay-Peerless, Hagon, Imperia, Invicta, Lea-Francis, Matchless, Meray, MGC, New Imperial, New Map, Nut, OEC, OK-Supreme, Osa-Liberty, Rex-Acme, Rover, Rovin, Soyer, Stylson, Terrot, Tornax, Trump, Ultima, UT, Verlor, Vindec, Wolf, and Zenith.

JAP engines were also used in a wide range of industrial and other non-motorcycling applications including railcars and early Reliant 3-wheelers.

Yea, my buddy Nick in Colorado builds these. Its a featherbed frame that will accept BSA, XS650, Triumph and a host of other motors with just motor mount changes. He's building these both as just frames and turn-key ready to ride bikes that are both pretty damn affordable for how nice a product you get. Drop him an email on his website for more info, tell him Dano from Gem City sent ya.
