Hi there I have seen this bike on the Nitromax site. I have the same model of bike so I emailed him to get some answers. It turns out that the original builder of the bike contacted him with all the details and history and a list of all the parts and modifications etc. Here is a bit of the text off the website "Hi,saw you're B33 Chop on you're site and was both delighted and amazed.I live in Scotland and I built this bike in 1983 form the frame up.I used an ex army M20 frame and forks with a B33 engine running a short stroke crank and B50 piston ,it went phenomally well but could use higher gearing. I sold it years later to Alister White A.K.A. Dutchy who took it to Holland and sold it there. It has not changed other than the colour. " its a good story that bike has ay. That nitromax guy was well helpful and put me in contact with the builder who was also great and helpful now all i have to do is get mine on the friggin road ![]() |

Here's my J.A.P. I raced in the 70's. Used to belong to Ron Johnson from NZ (Had his name plate on the rear fender) who won the the world champs in the UK, I think it was the early 60's.
I was tuning it one night and riding up and down our street, then a cop spotted me and the chase was on.....he had to do a U turn first and I had to think fast as I could only do left hand corners (and no brakes). I got away too - ended up in a bush up someones driveway, with alcohol pouring all over me out of the tank. I peeked out of the bush to see the cop roar past with his lights flashing...... ![]()

(not sure if that Q was directed at me but....) No it's long gone - our special built cinder track got closed down and then we had to share a new track with cars that put 10" ruts of mud in the corners ..... was fun trying to negotiate the bike around the track in deep mud though.
So I sold it ($450)to help finance the completion of my shovelhead chop in about '78. |

Might as well copy this gem over into this thread......
Quite original '55 Scrambles DBD34 500 GoldStar, spotted for sale - ![]() From the text - "it belonged to/built by the famous Jim Hunter of Southern California. This bike was built up by Jim Hunter to race, for either Scrambles, Motocross, or Desert racing. I also have copies of the original BSA Factory build (dyno) sheet, that I obtained from the Gold Star Owner Club in England. This sheet VERIFIES the engine and frame numbers are correct for this bike, the cams, transmission, and the "trim" are all correct as it left the factory and it was dyno'd on June 24, 1955 and then dispatched to Hap Alzina on January 11, 1956. This is a 1955/6 BSA Gold Star Scrambles. This bike should almost be in a Museum, as it has all the history of Southern California off road racing as it's history. Jim Hunter won a LOT of races in his day, and he also built up some of the fastest Goldies that raced all over the U.S. Jim Hunter had a huge influence on motorcycle off road racing of all types, he was (is) well known and a true racer. He also had his own shop in La Habra, Ca., and was one of the "guys" in the book: The Original Wild Ones: Tales of the Boozefighters Motorcycle Club." ![]() ![]() ![]() http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BSA-G...7%7C240%3A1318 . |
