This is from a few months back mocking up the belt drive to see if everything still lined up.

Still crippled, haven't done much with this. Collected a lot of crappy 39mm front ends to piece this together and hand polished everything. Wayyyy to much work to end up with a basically stock sporty front end.

Went to peel the crappy rattle-can paint job off, noticed that there's something hidden under there. If it starts to look cool, I'm going to try to save it.

Oh boy, archaeology! That little bit that can be seen in your pic has a Japanese floating world/geisha sort of look to it. Unlikely but possible.

Well that's what was under there. I didn't keep going to see if there was anything on the sides, betting there is. It's cool, not my style though going to trade it to a pinstripe artist friend of mine for some work on this bike. He's going to leave it how it is and hang it up.

For future reference if someone is trying to save a paint job like this, just take your time. I used 400 grit wet sanding to cut through the hard coats, then 2000 grit wet when it started getting close to the image underneath. Also used lacquer thinner on blue shop towels and rubbing to help get it off. Would have came out really nicely if I hand't started with aircraft stripper, I just didn't think there was going to be anything under there.
