Can anyone suggest a couple good sources for info on the XR1000 harleys
things like valve adjustment clearance, timing, carb tuning, good features vs. bad features etc. etc. I can't seem to find any "how to" tuning tips or general spec info on these. I found one I'm thinking about picking up,but theres just very little info on the web,as well as bike forum sites.Any help would be appreciated. I know someone on here knows someone who knows the low down on them

Same as that, not a Harley man at all but outside of the factory Flat Trackers, they gotta be the sweetest looking bike to come out of Milwaukee in modern times.
For what it's worth, if ya can afford it get it, just to have and to hold. They are highly sought after here in the UK don't know what it's like over there though.

Dang Son......

You ate up with Low Production Bad Ass Harleys....

For the record.....The XR was a two year run with the numbers somewhere around 1770 made...
Heard that maybe about 7 of them was made in 1985...

The CR's was also a two year run.....

Aaaaaa......Say ...Buellbomb....
Ya think we should tell them the production numbers on the Westwind...???

Naw......We'll let them read for themselves...!!

Sorry, I don't remember.....

I had a box full of parts for doing the Pro Series....not only jets, but tubes and slides too....

These are the go-to people for those....

And if you can get in touch with Tex Peel.....He has all the numbers in his head....The Boy was amazing  with the knowledge he could rattle off....

few months ago there was a crated 1 on ebay brand new never seen day light.
That was from Thruall's H-D in Clarksville In....
Think the owner's name was Bill.....
Been in his shop many times.....

He used to warehouse new bikes until the ones on the floor was sold....
That XR, the last time I checked E bay, was at $24,000 on the bid and still had a day or two to go....
I do wonder what it did sell for...??
Did anyone keep up with it....??

Ya, Looks like the only thing done to it was polish the cam cover and primary....otherwise,completely stock,I think it even had the original oil in it! But it runs like a top and the more I detail it out, this thing looks showroom clean, all the little micro surface rust spots are cleaning up to like new finish. I'm stoked!! Did I mention 3500 original miles?? Thanks for all the help, info, and comments everybody,I feel like I definately made a "Good Score"!
