It all makes sense, but that's a lot of unnecessary wires unless you feel uncomfortable without things like a kill switch to the coils (you have that inherently in a key), the battery disconnect on the ground (totally unnecessary in my opinion), the fuse inline to the light (fuse or bulb, doesn't matter something's gone wrong if you're blowing either), and the fuse from the hot to the key switch (I would move it from the hot to the regulator, so if the reg goes it doesn't overload the battery).
No sweat man. I wasn't trying to give you grief, just some things to consider from your schematic. When it come to wiring, the easier the better (less chance of having to chase down problems).
I've heard of starters not disengaging as well, but never had a problem with it as the starter didn't last very long on my Shovel.

sorry to hear about your broken electric leg BigDawg..
thats why i post on this forum!
to get useful and tryed out stuff/ideas so i dont have to make a gazillion mistakes rebuilding this bike... the combined knowledge on this forum is immense!
and I love getting another point of view... or else i could just look at my pitctures on my computer and ask my girlfriend for advice..haha
Now I can build my swingarm mounted fender.
noticed that I need a bigger disc! I can live with that and i need to adjust the axel spacer a little to.. no biggie
i must say its a fucking pain in the ass to sand a frame by hand!!
my hands hurts.. haha
3.5 hours of sanding and cleaning and almost 2 hours to brush the paint on!
yupp I know im a cheap bastard.
would have been easier to sandblast it and then a powder coat it..
but now i know EVERY nook and cranny on the frame and finally she feels like MINE!!
I saved a little of the yellow... where the VIN is stamped in. the cops wouldnt be able to read it if i painted it..
one last.. im really happy the way it came out..
almost midnight here... a shot of whiskey and a cold beer feels in place!
Thanks Rob..
Now?
I know it can be a problem to find time to work on the bike..
Im not working (taking care of my family, sick girlfriend) so I have almost to much time..
8/10 times i just turn in the garage doorway and get inside the house again..
but i have had a good flow a couple of weeks/times, so im happy..
I remember that bike, and i still think i have that mag somewhere... was just a kid back then though..
Nice progress on the bike Knallert. Maybe i see you on the road this summer..
I moved 1000 Km south from UmeĂĄ, Sweden to have less snow.. last winter we had almost 1 meter! didnt go like i planed.. now we have only 10 cm.. much better..
talked to my engine guy and he had some good news for me..
he now have all the parts in house and are almost done with the rebuild..
i went for Rowe black melonite valves and he had some problems to get hold of them.. he heared something that Rowe has quit making them?!?
can that be right?
well I cant wait to get the motor back in the frame and kick her to life!!
thought i should take my shovel build into the 2012... and mounted a Sigma 1609 on her.. it got all the info i need.. and more!!
(maybe not for all, but it works for me)
Km/h..
temp..
trip 1..
total odo..
clock.. etc etc..
wireless and its backlit to..
i tried to spinn the wheel by hand.. 7.2km/h is not to bad
im sorry if im boring you guys with stuff like this...
its kinda basic stuff.. but i like posting pics and keaping things so i can go back and look at wtf i been doing on the bike
i think i got lucky this time... hehe..
we will se how good it hold up this summer.
actually im planning on buying a spray gun.. kinda tired of rattle can matt black
After i was done with the gearbox oil change i couldnt help looking at my clutch arm.. it doesnt look right!
and it wasnt bolted in good and snug.. it just pop loose in my hand when i pulled straight up (bolt not in the pic)
so i found a kick pedal from a China mini chopper engine.. think it was a 110cc.
this might work...
cut off all the junk and welded a longer piece on it...
spot welded it to the "square" bottom piece and drilled a 4mm hole all the way through and a bigger 6.5mm half way...fits my Hinckley Triumph clutch cable...
slizing it open in the end so i could put the cable into place.
I drilled it in an angle so it wouldt "bend"..
here its just spot welded to the "square" ring and the spacer for the bolt...
and from another angle..
gonna finnish welding it tomorrow and grinding it into the shape i want it..
im pretty pleased with it so far..
Ok... I want a clean kick pedal.
I had a popsickle but i didnt like the look of that!
a long time ago i shortened a fork tube on my -74 Honda Monkey bike and the cut off part was a perfect fit!
(never ever throw away parts! you never know when you need them!)
the end cap is from my wrecked Scrambler handlebar, its stainless and welded up nicely through the hole on the end!
result...
finally started on my rear fender. its a 21" harley front fender.
I have to widen it atleast 45mm to fit the tire and the fender strut.
the strut are from my 2001 bonneville that i sold last summer...
fits like a glove!!
gonna make my own 2 into 1 so i mocked them up on the floor.
need the motor in the frame before i can start that project..
Fuck.. i didnt have any sheet metal at home.. (remember to buy more!)
had to cut some from this 2" x 1"..
spotwelded into place.. its a little thicker than the fender so i had to aim the weld to the thicker piece..
welded it in short beeds and moved around alot so it wouldnt twist.
How close is safe to mout a fender?
i know that the tire gets larger at speed...
i didnt use the first strut i had on.. it was hollow and to fragile so i made some out of 10mm solid round bar.
welded on the other side.. trying to keap it as clean as i can.
test fit...
i havent solved how i will mount it to the fender yet.. cant decide if i want a "sissy" on just snug around the fender.. decissions decissions
Yesterday i got a phone call from Anders, My engine was ready to pick up!
fuck i couldnt sleep last night!!
I had some time to kill before the pick up so I started to fab a new belt cover. its 2 mm steel.. still have a lot to do on it but its a start.
well 06:01 PM i was at Anders workshop.. and there she was..
My god I missed her!
talked for a good 3 hours and home we went..
She is back were she belongs..
mocked up my "new" exhaust just to get an idea of how it will look..
I think she is stunning... its a fucking beautiful engine! oh my oh my..
cheers guys...
