Has anyone ever seen one of these before? 5 speed for a pan. I think this one was on display at an old bike shop. But I cant find any info about it online. Any info would be appreciated.
wonder if Harley got the idea for their 5spd from that set-up , that,s how they got the softtail design a back yarder built it and they acquired the design
the moco "borrow" an idea? unheard of!! they will tell you they are the ones being ripped off by everybody. thats why the patented there sound. lol. too much money i guess.
there is an old timer pretty close to me with two of them laying on his floor.
been trying to get one of em for almost a couple years now.
very hard to find.
Anyone have picture's of this 70's after/market tranny...
I remember seeing one here that a Fellow just bought NOS..
Did a search...couldn't find it...
I was here in Denver back then, he wanted another gear as he was topping out at 120 ish with strokers, Yes, He tried to sell it to harley, Two Wheelers bike shop as right down the street in denver, i think they are still arround, if there are parts they would know, fresh trannies he would pre run in each gear something like 12 hours, each gear, before selling. A whole shovel bike back then sold for $3000
I saw some at daytona back in the 80's and 90's everyone I saw was broken and no parts where to be had. at the time I think 1 or 2 of the gears where kinda thin to get it all in there. many of the pieces like seals , shift fork where stock 4 speed but the gear set where custom made. seems like the same gear was broke in everyone. never saw one in a bike though just busted in the swapmeet
Rocky Mountain Harley Davidson in Littleton, CO might have some info or Colorado SOS had some, Little John had a double engine fuel harley back then too!!!!
March 1978 Easy riders had a short spec on these plus a feature of John Peltz's 92" shovel with one of his trannies in it. Early or late (1978) cases, 1.28:1 final drive, any type of clutch or primary setup. And he was from Denver,CO.
This was built by a guy named John Wayne Pelts from Denver CO.
