As a motorhead, I found this appropriate.

The stuff lays down pretty good. 4 coats of primer (sanded between coats), and about 6 coats of engine enamel. Has a lot of orange peel, not too heavy, should sand/polish nicely.

I'm having a hard time keeping my patience in check, I really want to start sanding/polishing the tank. This paint takes a while to fully cure, which isn't such a bad thing since I fuked up some muscles in my lower back and I won't be sitting on the floor molesting this thing any time soon.

I built a little "hot box" that the tank is in, it's piped with warm, dry air from my furnace when it's not out in the sun. Should help cure it. Normally I stick rusto'd stuff in the oven but this tank has already been red-coated so I can't get it too warm.
I won't be able to get in gollum mode until my back is better, by then it should be good and dry.

My wife and kids make fun of me because I'm usually crouched or sitting on the floor when I work on stuff. Sometimes holding the piece with my feet.

....and I talk to myself a lot when I work.

The first time my kids saw Gollum one of them said: "Look.... it's Dad!"

Gollum, now he was a real Bottom feeder. You should paint his eyes on that tank.

Good to see you here, my friend.
Unfortunayely, there's not much to update. I'm out of commission for a while until my back gets better.
Ordered the rest of the parts for the new exhaust and they've been slowly trickling in. Hopefully all the parts will be in by the time the inspection is done so I can tear off all the foo-foo mandated stuff. I can't wait to strip it back down.

Unhappy

Bad news. Went to the ortho and it's worse than first thought. Most likely, I'll never be able to ride bikes with ergos like this again without running the risk of seriously phucking myself up.

Rehab. Remember medicine is a "practice". Its never a one size fits all. I was told the same things some years back after an accident. I rehabbed myself and got into power lifting. Played semi pro football til I was in my late 30's.

If I listened to the Dr. I'd be in a wheelchair or using a cain.

Unfortunayely, this isn't my first go-round with this injury. I've already had surgury once. It put me back on race bikes for a while but I eventually decided it wasn't worth the risk of permanent paralysis. I'm going to get a few more opinions but right now, it doesn't look good. Fortunately, the weekness/numbness that I have now is on my right side (lower leg/foot) but I can still use the back brake. I can still ride, just have to be consious of how my back is bent. Pretty much have to have perfect ergos and a rigid is not a good idea.
