Default Blown Genny Shovel

Hey

Just mocked up the AMR 500 blower on the Genny Shovel to get a very rough idea.

I have seen a few blowers placed in this spot and also above the trans and even on the left side beside the front down tube.

What's your thoughts?

I'm a little unsure if I should do it.

Thanks,

Roy

Well you should give me that engine and I'll give you a cone shovel in exchange.

The go out to Bankstown on Fri. There should be a supercharged shovel there from Albury. Check it out.

Hmmm. First thought is yes. Second thought is, Im sorry I thought you were asking if I wanted it. Third thought is the same as the first, but Ill settle for a build thread.

Why a bigger supercharger? Purely for looks or performance?
From what I've read the AMR 500 will be fine. I'm not looking for massive power and the engine is 96ci already

Cause it needs to revved quite high just to shov the amount of air the engine needs n/a. To get any boost you will be way off the flow map. Im maxing out a similar size charger on a sidevalve of half your engine size. If intend to do all the work why not reward yourself with power?

Ok but aren't these blowers fitted to engines up to 1600cc capacity and still produce boost?
I was thinking of running it 2:1 to roughly produce 4-6 psi.
The hp would be nice but it ain't everything as it looks damn cool either way.
I'm assuming you would suggest a Magnuson 80?

It all depends on how well the engine breathes. Stuff a rag in the exhaust and you vill have massive boost until it chokes to death. A fully race prepped 1600cc engine would have no boost and less power with am amr 500 than it would n/a. Mercedes has fitted their passenger cars with blowers for the last 15years in sizes of 45 and 62 cui thats like an amr 750 or a amr 1000 they would be cheap and sufficient for your shovel at the scrapyard

What about it?
Im not gonna interfear with your build, you build what ever you want. I just recommend what i would do, cause ive been down this road before, and its double the work to do it for looks one time and "just a couple of psi" and serious a second time than to do it properly the first time. Boost is very addictive..
