Just a quick question for those of you that have installed these before. When the directions say to set the engine to the full advance timing mark, can I just set to TDC and then rotate the engine backwards til the 38 BTDC degree locator pin falls in the hole in the crankshaft? Then align the red dot to the hole in the ignition plate? Or am I all messed up? Many thanks.

Yes, you can.
Might be advisable if you do it that way to turn it back PAST the locator, then rotate engine in normal running direction to approach TDC. This takes up valve train gear lash for more a more accurate job. Do it with a light when you're done no matter what. Bench timing schemes are just to get you near the final setting. Jason |
