im about to go order a set of straight pipe fishtails for my 01 road king, but i am kinda having second thoughts.... my main concern is that there might not be enough back pressure considering they have no baffles. anyone heard of any problems related with this issue or these pipes?

Straight pipes are great for racing as they do an awesome job of getting the exhaust gasses out, but they also cause scavenging of your fuel air mixture and actually rob your street bike of power. Unburnt gases go right out the tailpipe, less power, lots of yummy noise tho'. You can get baffles to put in those pipes however and get your power back. The inserts look like little spiral staircases, I do not know how effective they are.

Install power cones. They go up into the head before you bolt your pipes on.That will cure the flat spot you will incounter. Also change you air cleaner with a higher volume one.You will have to rejet 1-2 sizes up.That would do it, unless you have fuel injection.
