Re: Vintage Fuel Drag Bikes

I count myself lucky to have grown up in So Cal. I got to watch both of those bikes run at LIONS in the early 60's.

Re: Vintage Fuel Drag Bikes

Thanks for the info. Bud hare had a triumph triple on the salt one year. I don't know what he had in the tank, but when he fired it up in the pits, it burned your eyes and nose worse than today's top...

Re: NKG spark plugs?

Hey, it wasn't "snuck" in. Ryan did it first when he ran the story of our bike 4 years ago on this forum. The only "Jap" piece on the bike is the engine. The rest is 100% hand built. I guess that,...

Re: NKG spark plugs?

We needed a fairly cold, side electrode plug for our little Honda because of the compression, and high nitro % we ran. Back in the 60's NGK made the only plugs of that type available. We never had a...

Re: Bonneville & LSR Update

Wow, another 1000RPM just with a different megaphone! My engine would blow up with another 1000rpm. But I think you are right about the longer megaphone working better at high rpm.[/QUOTE]

The...

Re: Bonneville & LSR Update

The long slim megaphones generally work better at higher RPM's. Depends on the cam, but our Honda gained almost 1000 RPM's at Bonneville with this CR 110 style megaphone over a short Bates...

Re: Video of World's Fastest Indian Running

Burt set his records on straight methanol. The one time someone gave him some fuel with nitro he fried the pistons. On full rich, his carb would not flow enough fuel to keep it from running too lean....

Re: Vintage Fuel Drag Bikes

Love your story. Yes, nitro is very addicting. Once you learn it, anything will run faster. Our little 100cc Honda ran 77mph on the salt on gas. After a year and a half learning curve, we went back...

Re: Two Kids On The Salt

Better in the museum than collecting dust in my garage. And, it's only 10 minutes from home. I can visit anytime. :)
