Can we have a vote to ban members if they post too much or start too many lame threads? What about a probationary ban for a week, month or life?
If so, I want to put 51rat on the chopping block.
If we can't.............
STOP POSTING SO MUCH COCK FIENDS!

I've had to bite my tongue a few times. I don't think anyone needs to post 600 times in a month.
I think I am at 1.82 per / day and I think that is too much - plus I am a total poser anyway - your friend in cyber space -AJ

sounds like a good use for the "create a poll" dealie, i.e. take opinions on "sanctions" needed ??
the only other option would be using the "report post" button & feeling like a rat...
& I dunno about asking administrators, I have asked a specific question in email to both of them & am being ignored; guess it's time to put it in a post over here.

well I was still debating whether to start a free-standing thread, but since you are on this one.......
high points of my emailed query :
"I've been meaning to ask about Ray Luce - Murdercycles - he said he was banned for just saying nigger in a post. wonder could he get a second chance, he's really a good guy with a lot to contribute.
and it seems there's quite a bit of this word's use on the board, according to the search engine, and None of these others using the term have been banned.

It comes down to "HOW" the word is used. Its interpretation is the main concern here.
Its all the way words are thrown around and the mallicious intent of the word. That kind of negativity wont be tolerated here. This place is about motorcycles.

When I found this place I thought it was cool to find other people out there into the same or similar bikes as me. I'll admit I went a little crazy with my posts. I like this place, but if the general concensous is I'm someone that you guys would rather not have around cool.

I get a little annoyed by two things.....
1) posts that are only intended to make fun of someone who interprets Motorcycling different than "we" do.....Hell most gold wing riders REALLY ride those things....I know there are lots of guys in here who build bikes but ride them to bars and shows but never get highway miles....
2) people who make fun of someone who is coming in here to get ideas on what to do and they get FLAMED because they have a stock bike......I put 120,000 on my stock sporty and am just now...15 years later going into chopping it.....these guys would have flamed the hell out of me...
And finally...If someone says something truely offensive....as just happened with the rasist thing....I think they need to get out, I have NO room for that kind of comment.
Are these reason to ban someone....no..but perhaps some friendly reminds who be in order......you know we all started somewhere...my first bikes were in this order...Rupp Mini.....Kawi 250 dirt bike......Suz GS850......and Yamaha Maxim....I had 15 years riding under my belt and was 25 before I got my sprty...
I think David Allen Coe has a song....(and he was a "n" word dropper but he also has words of wisdom)........
He don't take his bike to Daytona,But he carries his helmet along. And the Ironhorse Saloon shirt he's wearing,Say's bike week 1981.He's a bona fide wanna be tough guy. With long hair and chains on his boots. He works 9 to 5 Monday through FridayIn loafers and Ivy League suits. (chorus)And he's thinking of getting a tattoo,And maybe an earring or two.As much as we hate to admit it,We all know what he's going through. We say he's a true weekend warrior,He's wearing his old Harley hat.And the truth is it's hard to remember,That we all started out just like that.

well, Big Al, I'm personally all over the page(s) on this one, but yet I find myself just pissed about it at every turn.
namely the original subject of the original post........ BUT.....
let me add to Your list :
3) this ongoing trend of a conflict starting on one forum, then "troops being rallied" at some other board, till all Hell is breaking loose both places.
(wouldnt it be) easy enough to do an intro something like, say " hi I'm _______ also known as 'shop bitch' on the (south florida customs board which would rather remain unknown in the face of this soap opera) and I work for W_____ a member here, & I have a general question...............
but no I guess the "community"(s) in whole are best served the way it Always goes.
sure it'd be nice if it hadnt happened that way but it's too much easier to do "us vs them", now isnt it Always.......
nice musical analogy tho -

and as to your second re -
and to the object of so many of our esteemed post-ers' ire ---
allow me to paraphrase from a famous & highly respected nig-rah :
Let him not be judged by the number of his posts (or per-day avg.) but by the content and useful contribution of them (his character) .
- - - - - - - - -
how fucking many of y'all who post during the day are doing it on the clock from your employer'd equipment ANYWAY .....
huh ??
fuck it
guess I'm done with this place too, if it's gonna be/stay like this.

Man, I very much dislike this kind of stuff on my favorite site. None of this stuff is worth getting so anxious about, jeez. I'm more bummed at this thread than the ones it was started to complain about. I like Scorcher's response about "rules", who needs 'em? Who cares? relax lynch mob. So you think a guy is a dipshit? Who cares? Sound like a bunch of bleedin' women.
I think it's just the nature of the whole internet/forum thing. I mean how "cool" can it be? It's a fucking chat room, it's gay even at best. But, it is the best one I've been to, and I've learned a shitload and met a ton of cool people (in real life too) from it, so it has a lot of value to me. If you want real interaction, go hump the old lady or ride down to the local bar and talk shit. If someone isn't your idea of cool, relax they might have something to offer in some other area. If they are a jackass, they'll get called on it eventually.
I don't advise tossing anyone out of here because they post too much. Off topic shit is lame, and I think would ruin the board, but I don't think we have that problem very often. (People get shot down pretty quick if they start posting dog pictures...) The guys who are not a good fit usually end up getting flamed for something stupid and go away anyway. Just because a dude is motivated and has a lot of posts doesn't make him irrelevant in my opinion. (If you are talking about Vonneville specifically I think you PM him and tell him to shut up. I've had several "virtual-altercations" on here and have been able to diffuse them in private without making me or the other dude look like a jack off.) Personally, I think the dude has some good pics, threw a cool BBQ that everyone was invited to, has welding skills, what the fuck else do you want? So he post 18.5 times a day. Wish I had that job! Big deal, don't like what he posts, don't reply. Easy as that.
If we get out the ruler and start measuring cuffs around here I'm going to be really dissapointed. If we discriminate against people who don't fit someone's idea of a "killer internet chopper badass" then we might as well just call everybody a nigger and be done with it.

The original idea was to hint to those listed that they posted too much. Don't take it so personal....just don't hit the post button as much because I don't want to clutter up a good thread calling you out on it.
Quality/quantity.
Amen.

I have nothing against people new to the "scene" posting honest questions about "what's this mean" and "how do I do that."
There's nothing wrong with that at all...everyone needs to start somewhere and this is as good (and far superior compared to some other "chopper" forums) as any.
My problem lies with the fucking MORON that just won't feel complete unless he adds his .02 on EVERY fucking thread. He is a true idiot in every sense of the word and talks out of his ass more than his piece of shit bike backfires through his piece of shit $50 drag pipes.
I wish I could feel better after my rant, but I just don't with the knowledge that this idiot is allowed to run amok and ruin every thread with his incessant exclamation points while talking out of his ass every which way...if I wanted to hear an asshole talk, I'd eat some frijoles and listen to my flatulence...if I want to hear what some idiot has to say, all I need do is click on any given thread and there he is expousing on how BL (whom he's no doubt never met, though he claims he has) is an asshole, talking about Bates seats which he admits he's never seen one), and listing every fucking spec of his bikes in his signature.

I was gone over the weekend and come back to chickenshit stuff like calling out Irish Rich for trying to make a buck selling t-shirts. I've also been paying a little closer attention since all the bitching started and I've got to agree the massive signatures and shitloads of replies that are of no real value are a drag.

I know that over the last month, the rate of off-topic threads has seemed to rise considerably. I am guilty of posting one or two myself. I had no idea it bothered so many people. Had I known that, i would've kept steaks and weather to myself. As far as overposting goes, This forum is so jam packed with knowledge and information, I can sit here on a day off and read and post for hours. Hopefully not too much for everyone. I do agree with most of you on some of the points made. If a forum gets out of hand off-topic wise, it could potentially crumble. I've been a member at a few places that used to be great, I'd not go there for a while, and when i'd return it was an all-out flame war on everyone and everything. Most of the people here seem to be pretty good for the most part on keeping things the way they should be. Since i've joined back in May I think it was, I've learned so many things about Triumphs and just bikes in General. I just wanna thank everyone for the educated input that you all have shared. -JOSH-

Maybe it's time for another forum. "Questions & Suggestions" could be split into two different forums.
"Questions" could become a forum for announcements dealing with updates and suggestions for the site. Call it "Site Info" or something.
"Suggestions" meanwhile could become "Tech & Resources" to serve as a library of hands-on info --an area for the following: tech tips and how-to's for building and/or repairing. And also for commens about any supplier or service that any of us have actually directly dealt with. To make it easy for quick eye-ball reference, use only the following post icons: the roadsign exclamation icon for tech info; the red thumb down for a bad vendor and a gold thumb up for a good vendor.
hows about an "off topic" section on the board - wouldnt that solve the problem? maybe its an over simple view or something but if you dont want to read off topic stuff then dont go in the off topic room?....
to be honest doesnt bother me - theres more to me than bikes anyhows...

I was going to say the same thing, but then I figured the reason there isn't an OT forum is to keep the whole board on topic instead of having it become a free-4-all. Any forum you go to where an OT forum exists, it will be the most populated section by far because it gives people a reason to say anything they want. Not that I'm against free speech, but I kind of like having this be the place where people talk about bikes and stuff directly related to them.
since we're on the topic of what gets people banned and such...
i'd love to hear the justification for banning caleb from cro customs. from what i can tell, he was banned after making a sarcastic comment towards the flyrite guys (jason/scorcher), comparing the flyrite sprotor brake kit to the exile kit. this came after some back and forth comments about the superiority of 1" vs. 1.25" tubing for frames, Krafttech, and other bike related shit, which I thought was all in-bounds, on-topic, etc. shouldn't there be some allowance for sarcasm, ribbing, disagreement, etc. maybe there's more to it that i'm not privy to, but at the time it seemed really arbitrary to ban him.
i mean, here's a guy who builds good looking bikes out of his garage, posted useful info on bike building, rode the first ED run and is supporting the next one, and seemed like a decent guy. i never met the guy, spoke to him, pm'd him, or anything, i was still new on the board at the time, but he was someone whose posts i would read and he seemed like the kind of guy the board was made for...a true garage builder.
