I think we should start a thread with people to be warned about when buying or selling parts. It's disrespectful to pm and say you'll take an item and then never pay or at the least send a pm saying that you've changed your mind or went another direction or whatever. maybe a rating system or something????

On one of the car forums I'm on, there is a sticky in the classifieds for deadbeat sellers. People who never sent the items or took forever that were paid. It may not be the fairest to start one for buyers. After all you didn't lose anything, you just have an inconvenience. I'm with you that its annoying as shit. I've been through it and am going throught it right now on another forum. However, I don't know if the guy's cat died or his computer crashed. What I do is give them to a certain date. I'll remind them every other day. If its not paid for, it goes back up FS.
Scenario: Dude's comp. crashes. Repairs it. Comes back and sees you trashed him. He says Eff You and doesn't buy your gear on spite.
Just a thought.... Julian

Don't know...I spend my whole day dealing with this kind of stuff as I run a site dedicated to selling used Signmaking and printing equipment. I think its just a fact of life. But if they say they ARE going to buy then disappear with no explanation...some sort of notice might suffice.
Very hard to police though.

Historically: Ryan has never wanted to "police" the Classifieds deals.
I have always wanted a Sticky thread for transaction feedback.
Only for Classifieds deals, no ebay or general-internet buying, limited to parties in a deal here, no 3rd-party "+1s" or pileon posts.
I've seen it work well on other boards, and it's easy to search the thread with a username, to "check references".
But for now, I have experienced the same "tire-kicker/pic-collector" syndrome, as well as those who say they Paypalled or ask for a MO mailing address then never follow-thru & go quiet.
As a result, I make a standard disclaimer in the beginning of every FS post - "I need Paypal within 24 hours of your saying 'I'll take it', or it goes to the next in line".
Have lost too many sales due to the time it takes dicking around with the first guy, to find out next ones arent interested anymore...

I appreciate all of the responses, and I owe a big apology to tat3edfuk. I mistyped my paypal addy. Amazing how one number can result in confusion. i still support the sticky idea with deadbeat sellers though, but more than anything have had problems with tire kickers that say they'll take it only to change their mind and not tell you. Tat3edfuk, I apoligize for calling you out on something that was completely my fault.
