In the middle of a ride this week, my 5 in 4 transmission began shifting really hard, to the point where I needed super strength to get the bike to get into 2nd, 3rd, 4th and then it didn't even want to go into 5th. Downshifting is suddenly stiff, too. I've tried slightly adjusting the shift cam (about an 1/8th in. either way of center), but that didn't solve the problem. The clutch seems to be working fine. The bike has 180 miles and up until this little glitch, everything's been perfect. Any suggestions?

When you adjusted the shift cam did you notice if the shift forks were bent or out of allignment?

Has it been sitting over the winter? Supposedly, on some Sportsters, the oil tank will drain into the gearcase if you let it sit for over a month and leave too much oil in there rendering shifting very difficult. That's what I've heard anyway...

Revtech says the transmission is defective. They've had a lot come back with the same problem. Its at the shop getting fixed on their dime.
