One of the highlights of this forumn is the quality pics that are shown/taken. Thumbnail pics just don't seem to cut it when posting. Frankly they drive me nuts!! There are links on how to on "Our pics thread" and on the "Questions/Suggestions" area.

Guys, get a PhotoBucket account, upload your pics there. Then in your album of pics you will see 4 link codes. Click on the box that says IMG CODE. This will highlight the code inside the box. Now hold down your "cntrl" button and push the "C" button. This will copy the code to your clip board. Now, all you do is paste this code that has been copied to your clipboard in the reply/new thread text box by holding down the "cntrl" button and hitting the "V" button. This will place/paste the IMG code in the text box that you're typing in about your project. You don't have to do any resizing. You don't have to manage attatchment. Simple as pie!!

What if you have a flickr account?

Looks like a good time for another mini-tutorial.

What if you have a flickr account?

I've noticed from lots of guys posting Flickr pix, they are real big and/or hi-res and take much longer to load via dialup than other host-ers.

But, I've never used Flickr & dont know what their page/pic links look like...so here's a general overview -

Note - this also applies to stealing/copying random pix found on the web, in ebay listings, whatever.

Every pic has a "url", an address as it were, like any site or link.
A pic url always starts with "http://" & ends with ".jpg" (or ends with .gif or .bmp).

If you find a pic on the web, right-click over it & hit "properties", you'll see this url. Highlight & copy-paste it. (Note on boards like the Horse that will make the pic show up in a post, copying that url.)

On this style board, copy-paste that link straight into your post text and then add these "tags" to it - in front and at the end, with no spaces. That makes the pic show here, and is what the pic-icon thing supposedly does here, but many folks have trouble with it adding extra code or other problems making the 'thumbnails'.

Again, whatever pic host you use, just look at their pic link (url). If you see one with http:// thru .jpg (this is Photobucket's "direct link"), you can copy it and add the IMG tags.

If you have a link that looks like http:/ thru .jpg (this is Photobucket's "IMG Code" link), then us it intact & you're set here.

And for those who cant figure out "my big point" whatever it is, or that I simplified it so as not to confuse the new guys, just read the forum FAQ page and try & figure it out. Forgive me for trying to help.

Not every image is a jpeg. Saying so is confusing to users unaware of common image file formats.

I am just on a mission to get rid of crappy, postage stamp pictures off this board---They don't belong here. I am always interested in reading/looking at someones vision of a bike build but not when they are on postage stamps!

I personally try not to copy some strange URL off of websites. Might catch something..... But seriously if you copy one, they could clean up their Flicker/Photobucket account and then your post looks like crap with a big (Image deleted or removed picture) instead of whatever you were making yer' big point about. Takes a little more time, but copy said picture and download it to your own account, then get that URL for pastin'.

When I paste from photobucket to url in file management it have an invalid file response.

Select the "IMG Code" link from P'bucket.

Dont use the "file management". Copy/paste it (IMG Code) directly into your post message. Spaced apart from words, like it was another sentence.

Then check with the 'preview' button.

Don't bother with file management, just right click "copy" from photobucket, and then right click "paste" directly into your message.
