confused by post times of threads

new to the j j board forums and i dont get the post times . i ll be reading one thatsays posted today at 5:40 pm but its only 1:00 pm here in chicago is what iam reading real time or what ?"

Go to "User CP". Click on "Edit Options". Scroll to the bottom, and you can set the time to whatever is appropriate for your area.
