g'day to you all my name is tyler and im from wstern australia. I am into old school bikes mostly in the 60's show style and that of zero engineering. I'm 21 and have been into pre 65 cars and bikes for a few years- have a 54 chevy sedan in the works. im currently building a honda chopper similar to the zero style. if anyone knows of a frame in AUS give me a pm. I want it to be rigid rear sith a stock lenght HD springer with a goose necked and streched frame.

Check with the DPI before you do, as motorcycles are not treated like Hot Rods here, where you can just make a frame and get it licensed easy as you like. An engineer will have to inspect the frame and sign off on it, which will probably require them to X-Ray all the welds. Because your bike is an individual construction it will be treated as a 2008 manufacture motorcycle and will be expected to comply with all relevant 2008 ADRs, which if your bike does not have a compliance plate, will have to be proven via an expensive engineers report and a lot of testing.

Basically in WA, the date of manufacture of the frame determines the age of the bike not the engine. Start with a pre-1975 frame and you don't have to worry about ADRs.

You can start to see now why I built my Bobber from an already registered bike...

There are plenty of us here . Mostly Easterners . That link is to a frame being sold by Little Nicky . Nick sells used frames at a premium price and they are of varying quality. Remembering , that they are frames that are over 30 years old , have been cut & modified by unknown numbers of owners with unknown skill levels and that paint & bog hide alot of sins. Having seen some of Nick's used frames that looked good when the owner got them and proved to be worth scrap value when they were stripped I'd tread carefully . But , it's the same with most used frames out here. For about $2k you can get a new frame built to pass our bullshit Engineers Certification Rules but all the blokes like myself that build frames for Jap Engines are on the East Coast .
