I am a professional Leathersmith based in Long Island New York, I specialize in hand tooled chop seats, however if you have an idea for anything else, like say a headlight, grips, toolbags Tank panels...etc etc, not a problem ,just let me know. From time to time I'll post up examples of my leatherwork so yall can check it out and make sure im on my toes about it. And yes, JJ members will get a break on leatherwork, depending on complexity and design. Feel free to PM me about anything you might want to have done......

FWIW, I've had the pleasure of chatting with Xian for a few minutes and I was very impressed with what I call, his "real people" attitude. To many so called artists get to hyped on in their own press that they lose sight of reality. Not him.
A pleasure to talk to, a pleasure to deal with, and proud to have had the chance to chat. I can only dream of getting as good as you are with the tools of our craft.

My pleasure, it was great building that seat, I lived there at the same time man, surfed lake worth beach as much as I could, and worked at the Flagler Museum. I lived right near Bryant Park at the base of the Lake Worth Bridge. And raced for Chainwheel Drive in the 80's....They were in Forest Hills I believe...small world Indeed man!

Like Christian, I lived in the Sunshine State for a time. 813 is the area code of my birth. Turns out Xian and I lived in the same town (Lake Worth.) When I learned this, I had to let the man do my first custom seat.
The seabag top was BIlldozer's idea, and it look amazing in the contest of the bike's faux patina paint job.
I can't thank Christian enough for how quickly and stylishly he whipped together this seat.

Actually it has to go through the tanning process first before its tooled, depending on where you get the leather it can take up to a few months to tan one side. Its done with a Mixture of Tree barks and some other chemicals. Cheap stuff is tanned with fish oils..... thats what you want to stay away from. The import stuff thats usually really white in color...

You want a naysayer? I hate his seats. I feel almost a sense of anger whenever I see one of his seats. I would wish a pox upon those that have his seats. My fury and rage stems from one of the most primal of emotions... Jealousy. If only I not only could afford to have one of his seats but if I had something that was deserving of displaying such a seat. Oh wait, I kinda went from nay saying to praise again. Well, you get the idea. I'm just bitter.

I wanted to get a black seat from Xian for my totally stock 48 Panhead, just to add a little twist. When I saw how beautifully the natural tan seats turned out, I wanted Xian to craft it that way. Now I have to respray my entire bike to match the seat !
That seat for Teach is plain ill. Xian you are one sick MOFO. Talented is an understatement.

It has been brought to my attention that some guys aren't recieving reply emails from me using my regular private email Xianleather@optonline.net (Xianleather@optonline.net)And it happend twice this week...
This seems to be an issue since its a ".Net" address and I sometimes end up in the spam or junk folder. So please check those if you dont get a response from me in a normal time frame. Im usally real good about returning emails, most of the time at the end of the day, but sometimes right away. I've had instances when emails just never go through no matter how many times I send them. So if this seems to be happening, my number is on the contacts page of my site.... just hit me up.
Thanks

My ex-feincee's Grandfather Tooled for like 50 something years. She has a purse and a few other things he made for her. Your work is,without exaggeration's,as good as his, maybe better. It's certainly much, much cleaner.
He gave her is old leather set before he kicked the bucket. I had been trying to talk her into pick it up for him,and to learn a trade for years to no avail. I started showing her your work and she finally got jazzed about it.
You are an inspiration for many.
Expect an order when i get my frame revamped. I too got my little 'Xian seat fund' box tucked away. A ballpark estimate might be in order, but i'll gladly wait.

Thanks for the good words guys! I always appreciate them.....
Grimey..
Old tools are the best ones, they dont make them like that anymore, seriously. Dont let her get rid of them at anytime.... well unless you sell them to me. They are impossible to come by.
She should pick up the tools and do something, its a shame to see a family tradition/business go to the wayside. It should be handed down to at least one family member.
That happened in mine after my Great Grandfather Kohler died, he was a very well known glass eye maker in Germany, he blew the glass, and hand painted them to match . I wish it was passed down because I'd be doing glass work no doubt!!
Thanks again, and good luck to your ex if she decides to work leather...

From your website Christian,
Considering I have no formal training in leather work, I figured I would tell you where my talent and drive come from. From years and years of talent and drive, as well as passion passed down to me from my family members, some passed and some living. I am 100% self taught, and continue to learn everytime I pick up a tool and a piece of leather. I look forward to building leather pieces for many years to come and bring to you some of the finest leather you'll find anywhere. There are so many leathersmiths in the world today, many I look up to, some I consider masters of the craft. I am just one of them, I don't in anyway consider myself a master leather worker, but stay tuned, it may just happen............
I would say it just may have happened!! Killer work bro.

*****SOLD***** This is the Solo I bought from the board during the auction, Its totally reshaped, a full 1" thinner at the ass end. It has a nice cup in the center now and is oveer 1/2 " thinner all the way round. Its now 13" by 13"... I stitched in a nice dark chestnut Oily side center in a 6 Oz, and used a black 5 Oz for the sides. I used an extra heavy UV solid thread to hold it all together... The top will never hold marks or scratches, because of the way its made if you get marks in it or scuff it with a boot, the heat from you rubbing your hands or a clothe on it will remove any mark. .... $450. 00 shipped in the US...
