Since there seems to be alot of interest in cafe Bikes I thought I would show my old BMW that the new owner finished. It was slow as hell and always fouled one plug but it was still cool. My new bike is going to rule all over it.

Just to show how far cafe/road racers have come, this is from around 1970. I got it as part of a trade deal and decided to try my hand a road racing in Florida. After these pics, we shortened the front by about 4", added rear shocks and did away with the side stand (we used a piece of 4x4 to prop it up). I raced it three times, My best finish was 10th in a field of 12 (two bikes crashed). In my last race I was in a 90mph corner and the lead pak (about 6 bikes) passed me on the inside and I almost had a Heart Attack. I decided right then and there I wasn't road racer material and sold it to a guy who did quite well on it. MY how times have changed..

It was a 1975 r60/6. I am building a 75 cb500. It seems to be alot faster.

Corbin gunfighter seat $210,clubman bars and reasets from Omars Racing $350. Look for a small tanked bmw(called toaster tank) for sporty look. They are super reliable, decent performance, good parts avalibilaty, good resale, and fun to ride. I bought my 71 R75/5 2 years ago and have put on about 10,000 miles on it. Their easy to work on and most people take good care of them.so buying a used one is a pretty safe bet. If you get one show us some pics. good luck Gregg
