I know a lot of guys use take-off parts from new bikes when building, because they're plentiful and reasonably priced, sometimes. Here's something to watch out for. The 2008 Harleys no longer use a 1" axle. Now it's a 25mm axle. (maybe it's becoming cheaper to source metric bearings in this world market where we're still hanging on to inches and pounds... but I digress) 25mm is about .016" smaller than 1", making it almost impossible to eyeball the difference. But these wheels will not accept the 1" or 3/4" bearings that are interchangeable in the 2000 through 2007 wheels.

Yep, sice 2000, H-D has been adding more metric on the bikes, if you think thats bad, try working on a Vrod! after 2010 all the H-d's exept for a very few $80,000 cvo aircooleds, all your gonna get is the Vrod in diferent chasis! I dont see H-D competing with the other watercoold makers...Roach.
