Back in 72 my hero built a 10/12 and for some reason he decided to flake the parts himself. The dude that used to paint all his tins was great. Why change? The stuff was as rough as 40 grit production paper even with ten coats of clear on it. Leave it to the Pros. Really great work. Pity I live 6000 miles away but we've got ups, right?

Can you tell us how that's done?

I would guess cracks would start to develop in the paint and clear when you mate different materials that way, but it does look neat. Not traditional, but cool.

Regarding the cracking in the clear, different materials have been "bonded" together CORRECTLY for years without problems (removing extreme temps). It is when it is done INCORRECTLY separation or delaminating occurs. I would be curious if this gets mounted on a rigid and what its "vibration" life is. I like the work though!

It might as well look like it's on acid. There must be a helmet law in in WA cause heyitsnate said he needed a freaky lid. Thank god good old Wisco doesn't have any shitty helmet laws. Anyways heres some pics of the lid I did up for him. It still needs final clear and polishing, but you get the idea. And it's an old Arthur Fulmer so it has the bitchin chrome trim.

Blue Moon & Ryz. I was getting ready to give the guy shit about photos, but here is a real easy way to photo your guys great shit on the cheap.

Get a large enough box for your guys tins. Cut it leaving the sides back and bottom. Spray paint it flat white. get some bright light or natural light (indirect) and shoot them in it. YOu can always touch it up if you scuff it. Cheap and easy.

This should help with the pics and shut everyone up.
